Bethesda, MD — April 2025 — Aretum, a leading provider of innovative technology and mission-focused solutions to federal defense and civilian agencies, is excited to announce the appointments of Tino Pania as Director of Business Development for the Federal Civilian Sector and John Lauer as Director of Business Development for the Department of Defense (DoD) and Navy Programs. These strategic hires underscore Aretum’s continued commitment to accelerating growth across its federal portfolio and delivering exceptional value to government clients.
Tino Pania brings a strong track record of driving revenue growth and building high-trust client relationships across public sector organizations. With deep expertise in the full business development lifecycle—from capture strategy and partnership development to client relationship management—Tino has led business growth in both the private and public sectors, including roles in commercial and nonprofit organizations. He holds an MBA in Management Information Systems from the Weatherhead School of Business at Case Western Reserve University and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing from The Ohio State University.
“Tino’s strategic vision and deep understanding of the federal civilian landscape will be instrumental in expanding our impact and forging meaningful partnerships across civilian agencies. His goal is to help our government move forward stronger and more efficient. I can think of no better Business Development executive in his position,” said Sean DuGuay, Chief Growth Officer at Aretum.
John Lauer joins Aretum following a distinguished 30+ year career in the U.S. Navy and senior leadership roles in the private defense sector. A former Surface Warfare Officer, Lauer commanded the USS CURTIS WILBUR (DDG-54) and USS PORT ROYAL (CG-73), playing a pivotal role in the development and deployment of the Navy’s Integrated Air and Missile Defense capabilities. His post-military career includes leadership roles at General Dynamics Information Technology, Sayres and Associates, and Leidos, where he led growth initiatives supporting Navy and Space Force programs.
“John’s ability to translate complex challenges into actionable strategies has made him an indispensable force in accelerating business expansion and securing a competitive edge in the industry,” said Sean DuGuay, Chief Growth Officer at Aretum. “His leadership will be vital as we continue supporting mission-critical DoD with a focus on Navy initiatives.”
Lauer holds advanced degrees from the Naval Postgraduate School and the Naval War College and is a graduate of Hobart College. He lives in Virginia with his wife Kim Van Deursen and is the proud father of Samantha, who will graduate from Northeastern University in May 2025.
With the combined expertise of Pania and Lauer, Aretum is well-positioned to enhance its growth trajectory and deepen its role as a trusted partner to both federal civilian and defense agencies.
